These are not needed after #35129 but making uncrustify still play nice
with them was a bit tricky.
Unfortunately `uncrustify --update-config-with-doc` breaks strings
with backslashes. This issue has been reported upstream,
and in the meanwhile auto-update on every single run has been disabled.
Using the preprocessor before generating prototypes provides some
"niceties" but the places that rely on these are pretty few.
Vastly simplifying the BUILD SYSTEM is a better trade-off.
Unbalancing { } blocks due to the preprocessor is cringe anyway (think
of the tree-sitter trees!), write these in a different way.
Add some workarounds for plattform specific features.
INCLUDE_GENERATED_DECLARATIONS flag is now technically redundant,
but will be cleaned up in a follow-up PR as it is a big mess.
- Use the correct fd to replace stdin on windows (CONIN)
- Don't start the TUI if there are no tty fd (not a regression,
but makes sense regardless)
- De-mythologize "global input fd". it is just STDIN.
Problem:
When "-l" is followed by "--", we stop sending args to the Lua script
and treat "--" in the usual way. This was for flexibility but didn't
have a strong use-case, and has these problems:
- prevents Lua "-l" scripts from handling "--" in their own way.
- complicates the startup logic (must call nlua_init before command_line_scan)
Solution:
Don't treat "--" specially if it follows "-l".
Problem:
Nvim has Lua but the "nvim" CLI can't easily be used to execute Lua
scripts, especially scripts that take arguments or produce output.
Solution:
- support "nvim -l [args...]" for running scripts. closes#15749
- exit without +q
- remove lua2dox_filter
- remove Doxyfile. This wasn't used anyway, because the doxygen config
is inlined in gen_vimdoc.py (`Doxyfile` variable).
- use "nvim -l" in docs-gen CI job

This will be needed for #18375 as only the server should open the.
scriptfile, and redirected stdin fd will need to be used.
Also executing actions in the middle of command_line_scan() is cringe.
Allow Include What You Use to remove unnecessary includes and only
include what is necessary. This helps with reducing compilation times
and makes it easier to visualise which dependencies are actually
required.
Work on https://github.com/neovim/neovim/issues/549, but doesn't close
it since this only works fully for .c files and not headers.

Current name is inappropriate for the following reasons:
1. It is often masked by local `loop` variables.
2. It cannot be searched for. There are many `loop` variables where `loop` is
some local variable. There are many cases when “loop” word is used in
a comment.
3. It is in any case bad idea to use a generic name as a name of the global
variable. Best if global has module prefix: this is why it is in `main.h`:
`main_loop` both stands for “a main loop” and “a loop defined in `main.*`”.
Since I have no idea how to list every occurrence of this variable method used
to rename it is “remove it from globals.h, try to compile, fix errors”. Thus if
some occurrence was hidden under false `#if` branch it was not replaced.
- The 'stripdecls.py' script replaces declarations in all headers by includes to
generated headers.
`ag '#\s*if(?!ndef NEOVIM_).*((?!#\s*endif).*\n)*#ifdef INCLUDE_GENERATED'`
was used for this.
- Add and integrate gendeclarations.lua into the build system to generate the
required includes.
- Add -Wno-unused-function
- Made a bunch of old-style definitions ANSI
This adds a requirement: all type and structure definitions must be present
before INCLUDE_GENERATED_DECLARATIONS-protected include.
Warning: mch_expandpath (path.h.generated.h) was moved manually. So far it is
the only exception.
Move files from src/ to src/nvim/.
- src/nvim/ becomes the new root dir for nvim executable sources.
- src/libnvim/ is planned to become root dir of the neovim library.
