df6a0827fb test(pack): increase retry timeout for startup test #39125
Problem: Unreliable test on Windows which sometimes fails with too many
  failed retries.

Solution: Increase timeout in hopes that it will be enough to make it
  pass more frequently. This should not affect fast and already working
  platforms.

5b0ad4a060 fix(float): don't unload 'hidden' float buffer with :close! (#39096)
Problem: When closing floating windows to close a tabpage, if the current
          buffer will unload, buffers contained in those floating windows
          will too (unexpectedly).
Solution: Don't pass along "free_buf" argument; check 'bufhidden' for
          the buffer in the to be closed float.

3838a2579e fix(treesitter): restore highlighting on 32 bit systems #39091
Problem: Treesitter highlighting regressed on 32-bit builds because ranges that should cover the whole buffer were corrupted when passed into Lua.

Solution: Round-trip those range values through Lua and validate them so treesitter sees the same ranges on 32 and 64-bit builds.

d2fff0590a fix(lsp): set 'winfixbuf' in open_floating_preview() window #39058
Problem:
The window opened by `vim.lsp.util.open_floating_preview()`
allows its buffer to be switched. Presumably that only happens
by accident and is disorienting.

Solution:
Set 'winfixbuf' in the open_floating_preview() window.

71ac4db335 refactor(api): rename "window" to "win" (positional parameters) #39083
continues d0af4cd909.

This commit renames positional parameters. This is only "cosmetic", but
is intended to make it extra clear which name is preferred, since people
often copy existing code despite the guidelines in `:help dev-naming`.

1740d51ede feat(lsp): highlight foldtext via treesitter #38789
Problem:
To support `collapsedText`, which allows the LSP server to determine the
content of the foldtext, we provided `vim.lsp.foldtext()`. However, such
content does not have highlighting.

Solution
Treat the filetype of `collapsedText` as the filetype of the corresponding
buffer and use tree-sitter to highlight it.

1f53abf54b refactor(diagnostic): split diagnostic module
Extract the diagnostic implementation from
runtime/lua/vim/diagnostic.lua into focused internal modules covering
config, display, float rendering, jump/list helpers, namespace and
storage management, severity/shared utilities, and statusline support.

Move the builtin handlers into runtime/lua/vim/diagnostic/handlers/ and
keep runtime/lua/vim/diagnostic.lua as the public facade that lazily
dispatches to the split modules. This preserves the external
vim.diagnostic API while making the implementation easier to navigate
and reason about.

55f9c2136e test: replace busted with local harness
Replace the busted-based Lua test runner with a repo-local harness.

The new harness runs spec files directly under `nvim -ll`, ships its own
reporter and lightweight `luassert` shim, and keeps the helper/preload
flow used by the functional and unit test suites.

Keep the file boundary model shallow and busted-like by restoring `_G`,
`package.loaded`, `package.preload`, `arg`, and the process environment
between files, without carrying extra reset APIs or custom assertion
machinery.

Update the build and test entrypoints to use the new runner, add
black-box coverage for the harness itself, and drop the bundled
busted/luacheck dependency path.

202e17deef vim-patch:9.2.0346: Wrong cursor position when entering command line window (#39072)
Problem: Wrong cursor position when entering command line window
Solution: Add check_cursor() command to verify the cursor position
          (Hirohito Higashi).

When opening the command-line window with CTRL-F after typing a command
that fills the screen width, the cursor was placed past the end of the
line. Add check_cursor() after setting State to MODE_NORMAL so the
cursor is adjusted to the last character.

Also fix the cmdwin prefix character (e.g. ':') being drawn on wrapped
continuation rows. Draw an empty space instead so that the text
alignment is preserved.

5d3cda472c feat(api): use zindex to determine dimmed cursor shape #39054
Problem: The cursor shape is changed to indicate when it is behind an
          unfocused floating window (since a2b92a5e). This behavior
          cannot be controlled by a floating window that doesn't want
          to dim the cursor.

Solution: Assign a zindex-offset of 50 to the zindex of the current
          window. To not dim the cursor when creating a floating window
          on top of the current window one can assign the zindex
          accordingly.

49086862fc fix(api): nvim_get_hl drops groups defined with link_global #38492
Problem: hlgroup2dict passes &ns_id to ns_get_hl twice. The first call

original value is preserved.

6473d007e7 fix(lsp): apply_text_edits causes unwanted BufDelete events #38778
Problem:
Since 2f6d1d3c88, `apply_text_edits`
unconditionally sets `buflisted=true`, causing spurious BufDelete events
if plugins restore the original 'buflisted' state on unlisted buffers:
65ef6cec1c/src/nvim/option.c (L2159-L2169)

Solution:
- Don't set 'buflisted' in `apply_text_edits`. Set it more narrowly, in
  `apply_workspace_edit` where the semantics requires affected buffers
  to be visible to the user.
- Also skip setting 'buflisted' if it would not be changed, to avoid
  redundant `OptionSet` events.

1ff1973269 fix(api)!: nvim_clear_autocmds() "event" handling
Problem: nvim_clear_autocmds() does not type check "event" correctly, and also
treats an empty array "event" like nil.

Solution: fix type checking. Treat empty array "event" as a no-op, like
nvim_exec_autocmds(). Add some extra tests.

Likewise the nil handling change may be considered breaking if anyone
(unintentionally) relied on that. It was also true that integer, function, etc.
"event"s would also be treated like nil!

Note that an empty string "event" is still an error, as that's must be an exact
match on an event name.

665ebce569 fix(diagnostics)!: restore is_pull namespace argument #38698
Problem:
The current LSP diagnostic implementation can't differ between a pull
diagnostic with no identifier and a set of diagnostics provided via push
diagnostics.

"Anonymous pull providers" are expected by the protocol https://microsoft.github.io/language-server-protocol/specifications/lsp/3.17/specification/#diagnosticOptions
, depending on how the capability was registered:
- Dynamic registrations have an identifier.
- Static registrations will not.

20a3254ad4 fix(health): misleading warnings re filetypes registered w/ vim.filetype.add() #38867
Problem:

8603fc9180 fix(pum): crash with 'pumborder' and wide item (#38852)
Problem: pum_col goes negative when item width + border exceeds screen.

Solution: account for border_width in pum_compute_horizontal_placement()
instead of adjusting pum_col after the fact

5d66ef188f fix(rpc): trigger UILeave earlier on channel close (#38846)
Problem:
On exit, rpc_free() is called when processing main_loop.events after
libuv calls close callbacks of the channel's stream. However, when there
are no child processes, these libuv callbacks are called in loop_close()
instead of proc_teardown(), and main_loop.events isn't processed after
loop_close(). As a result, calling remote_ui_disconnect() in rpc_free()
causes UILeave to depend on the presence of child processes.

Solution:
Always call remote_ui_disconnect() in rpc_close_event(), and remove the
call in rpc_free().

7fff91359e fix(message): flush messages before "empty" msg_show #38854
Problem: When emitting a msg_show event with the "empty" kind,
          there may still be messages waiting to be emitted, which
          are then dropped as a result of recursion protection.
Solution: Flush messages before emitting "empty" message show.

2df2e72e0a fix(undo): undefined behavior with empty entry in 'undodir' (#38849)
Problem: Undefined behavior when 'undodir' contains empty entry.
Solution: Don't try to remove trailing slashes from empty path. Also
          don't remove a colon on Windows while at it.
