** Refactor
Previously most functions used to "get" a mark returned a position,
changed the line number and sometimes changed even the current buffer.
Now functions return a {x}fmark_T making calling context aware whether
the mark is in another buffer without arcane casting. A new function is
provided for switching to the mark buffer and returning a flag style
Enum to convey what happen in the movement. If the cursor changed, line,
columns, if it changed buffer, etc.
The function to get named mark was split into multiple functions.
- mark_get() -> fmark_T
- mark_get_global() -> xfmark_T
- mark_get_local() -> fmark_T
- mark_get_motion() -> fmark_T
- mark_get_visual() -> fmark_T
Functions that manage the changelist and jumplist were also modified to
return mark types.
- get_jumplist -> fmark_T
- get_changelist -> fmark_T
The refactor is also seen mainly on normal.c, where all the mark
movement has been siphoned through one function nv_gomark, while the
other functions handle getting the mark and setting their movement
flags. To handle whether context marks should be left, etc.
** Mark View
While doing the refactor the concept of a mark view was also
implemented:
The view of a mark currently implemented as the number of lines between
the mark position on creation and the window topline. This allows for
moving not only back to the position of a mark but having the window
look similar to when the mark was defined. This is done by carrying and
extra element in the fmark_T struct, which can be extended later to also
restore horizontal shift.
*** User space features
1. There's a new option, jumpoptions+=view enables the mark view restoring
automatically when using the jumplist, changelist, alternate-file and
mark motions. <C-O> <C-I> g; g, <C-^> '[mark] `[mark]
** Limitations
- The view information is not saved in shada.
- Calls to get_mark should copy the value in the pointer since we are
using pos_to_mark() to wrap and provide a homogeneous interfaces. This
was also a limitation in the previous state of things.
* refactor: format all C files under nvim
* refactor: disable formatting for Vim-owned files:
* src/nvim/indent_c.c
* src/nvim/regexp.c
* src/nvim/regexp_nfa.c
* src/nvim/testdir/samples/memfile_test.c
Add new "splice" interface for tracking buffer changes at the byte
level. This will later be reused for byte-resolution buffer updates.
(Implementation has been started, but using undocumented "_on_bytes"
option now as interface hasn't been finalized).
Use this interface to improve many edge cases of extmark adjustment.
Changed tests indicate previously incorrect behavior. Adding tests for
more edge cases will be follow-up work (overlaps on_bytes tests)
Don't consider creation/deletion of marks an undoable event by itself.
This behavior was never documented, and imposes complexity for little gain.
Add nvim__buf_add_decoration temporary API for direct access to the new
implementation. This should be refactored into a proper API for
decorations, probably involving a huge dict.
fixes#11598
Lesser form of include-what-you-use: at least guarantees that header
file did not forget to include something through some other included
file.
Activate run_single_includes_tests on CI.
Fix some IWYU violations.
References #5321
What works:
1. ShaDa file dumping: header, registers, jump list, history, search patterns,
substitute strings, variables.
2. ShaDa file reading: registers, global marks, variables.
Most was not tested.
TODO:
1. Merging.
2. Reading history, local marks, jump and buffer lists.
3. Documentation update.
4. Converting some data from &encoding.
5. Safer variant of dumping viminfo (dump to temporary file then rename).
6. Removing old viminfo code (currently masked with `#if 0` in a ShaDa file for
reference).
- The 'stripdecls.py' script replaces declarations in all headers by includes to
generated headers.
`ag '#\s*if(?!ndef NEOVIM_).*((?!#\s*endif).*\n)*#ifdef INCLUDE_GENERATED'`
was used for this.
- Add and integrate gendeclarations.lua into the build system to generate the
required includes.
- Add -Wno-unused-function
- Made a bunch of old-style definitions ANSI
This adds a requirement: all type and structure definitions must be present
before INCLUDE_GENERATED_DECLARATIONS-protected include.
Warning: mch_expandpath (path.h.generated.h) was moved manually. So far it is
the only exception.
Move files from src/ to src/nvim/.
- src/nvim/ becomes the new root dir for nvim executable sources.
- src/libnvim/ is planned to become root dir of the neovim library.
