d25ae8b8c2 refactor(input): rename getchar.c => input.c #40698
Problem:
`getchar.c` is a quirky name and doesn't align with our existing
`os/input.c` and `tui/input.c` modules, which encompass the same topic
at different layers.

Solution:
Rename `getchar.c` => `input.c` for discoverability.

Introduce `dialog.c` for functionality related to showing confirm
prompts, dialogs, etc.

204774c1e2 vim-patch:9.2.0743: string macros silently accept a size of the wrong type (#40470)
Problem: Several string and memory wrapper macros cast their size
          argument to size_t although the wrapped function's prototype
          already declares that parameter size_t; such casts silence the
          warning a compiler would otherwise give when a value of the
          wrong type, such as a pointer, is passed as the size.
Solution: Where the wrapped function's prototype already declares the
          parameter size_t, remove the cast so that a size argument of
          the wrong type can be reported at compile time (K.Takata,
          Shane Harper).

From gcc 14 on, -Wint-conversion is an error by default.

With gcc, passing a signed value where size_t is expected triggers
-Wsign-conversion, but the check is off by default and the build already
emits many such warnings.

2e8f285f6c vim-patch:partial:9.2.0368: too many strlen() calls when adding strings to dicts (#39237)
Problem: too many strlen() calls when adding strings to dicts
Solution: Refactor code to use string_T, use dict_add_string_len()
          instead of dict_add_string() (John Marriott)

Additionally:
- In textprop.c, in function prop_fill_dict() use a string_T to store
  local variable text_align.
- In popupwin.c, use a string_T to store struct member pp_name in struct
  poppos_entry_T.
- In mark.c, refactor function add_mark() to pass in the length of
  argument mname.
- In insexpand.c:
  ->Use a string_T to store the elements of static array
    ctrl_x_mode_names.
  ->Refactor function trigger_complete_done_event():
  ->->change type of argument char_u *word to string_T *word.
  ->->make one access of array ctrl_x_mode_names instead of two.
  ->Refactor function ins_compl_mode() to accept a string_T to return the
    resulting string.
- In fileio.c:
  ->Refactor function getftypewfd() to accept a string_T to return the
    resulting string.
  ->In function create_readdirex_item() use a string_T to store local
    variable q.
- In cmdexpand.c, store global cmdline_orig as a string_T.
- In autocmd.c, in function f_autocmd_get() use a string_T to store local
  variables event_name and group_name. Measure their lengths once when
  they are assigned so they are not remeasured on each call to
  dict_add_string() in the subsequent for loop.
- In channel.c, in function channel_part_info() drop local variable status
  and use s instead. Make s a string_T.

8f9278d7c2 fix(menu): right-click menu fails with E335 when using V after i_ctrl-o #37349
Problem:
Right-click menu fails with E335 when using V in Insert mode (after
i_ctrl-o). The mode detection checks restart_edit before VIsual_active,
incorrectly selecting Insert mode binding even when Visual mode is
active.

Solution:
Check Visual mode before Insert mode, to match get_menu_mode() priority
order.

442f297c63 refactor(build): remove INCLUDE_GENERATED_DECLARATIONS guards
These are not needed after #35129 but making uncrustify still play nice
with them was a bit tricky.

Unfortunately `uncrustify --update-config-with-doc` breaks strings
with backslashes. This issue has been reported upstream,
and in the meanwhile auto-update on every single run has been disabled.

5e470c7af5 fix(menu): fix listing of submenus (#34315)
Problem: Listing submenus with :menu doesn't work.
Solution: Don't go to the parent of the return value of find_menu(), and
          handle empty path at the caller.

Related #8194, which actually only fixed the problem for menu_get(), not
for :menu Ex command.

bbd2f340a2 refactor(memory): use builtin strcat() instead of STRCAT()
The latter was mostly relevant with the past char_u madness.

NOTE: STRCAT also functioned as a counterfeit "NOLINT" for clint
apparently. But NOLINT-ing every usecase is just the same as disabling
the check entirely.

FUNC_ATTR_* should only be used in .c files with generated headers.
